When purchasing a Navajo rug, buy from a reputable dealer who is knowledgeable on such issues as authenticity and quality.  Look for the absence of acrylic yarns and cotton warp.

Be sure to measure the area where the rug will be displayed before visiting the store.

While a reputable dealer can assist you with determining quality, the choice of design is yours. A Navajo Rug is a work of art, buy what you like and don't be bound by traditional designs.

Blair's offers genuine authentic navajo rugs made of 100% wool, still woven on the traditional vertical loom.  Horizontal looms are used in Mexican and Spanish-American weaving art forms. An upright Navajo loom is on display in our trading post and you will often find a rug in process of completion. Our rugs are of exceptional quality and the finest art piece being produced today. We proudly carry a wide variety of patterns and designs, from the traditional to modern.

When purchasing a Navajo rug it is important that the product is 100% hand made. There is no such thing as a machine made authentic rug.  This art form is passed from mother to daughter, beginning at a young age as the girl is taught to clean wool. Patterns and designs are rarely documented on paper, they are visualized before the weaving begins.

Our staff can provide a wealth of information about the history of this craft and background on many of the weavers. We have hundreds of navajo rugs for purchase or just browsing.

Collectors and wholesalers welcome.  Depending on size, design and quality, the cost of an authentic Navajo rug ranges from approximately $200 to $10,000.
